Janira Silva is a Wichita native who was born and raised in the community. She graduated from Wichita State University in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in forensic science. After taking a two-year break from school to gain practical experience in the legal field, she earned her J.D. from Washburn University in 2026, graduating with Dean’s Honors.
While at Washburn, she served as a mentor and teaching assistant in legal writing and research for incoming 1L students. She also gained hands-on experience through the Immigration and Family Clinic, where she worked on cases, as well as a Spanish translator.
