At Depew Gillen Rathbun & McInteer, LC, we view our summer internships as an important step in identifying and mentoring future attorneys who will join our firm after graduation. Each year, we hire one or two outstanding law students to experience the practice of law in a supportive, hands-on environment. This program is designed to provide the skills, insights, and connections necessary to transition into a successful legal career with our firm.

About the Program

Our summer internships offer a unique opportunity to work closely with our attorneys and gain exposure to a wide variety of legal areas, including business law, litigation, estate planning, energy, and environmental law. As a summer intern, you will take on meaningful assignments, from conducting research and drafting documents to observing client interactions and court proceedings. By working directly with our team, you will gain practical experience and develop a clear understanding of our firm’s approach to legal practice.

What We Look For

  • Current law student (1L or 2L preferred) with a demonstrated interest in joining a small law firm after graduation.

  • Strong academic performance and exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills.

  • A proactive attitude, attention to detail, and commitment to professionalism and ethics.

  • Participation in law journal or moot court is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with legal research and drafting memoranda, pleadings, contracts, and other documents.

  • Assist with case analysis and discovery processes.

  • Participate in client meetings.

  • Collaborate on firm projects and contribute to solving real legal challenges.
